Hidden deep in the Lake District, YHA Black Sail is only accessible on foot, either across dramatic mountain passes or through the stunning Ennerdale Valley. To carry out our work, the team at YHA Ennerdale and YHA Black Sail relies on a modern Toyota Hi-Lux, so a valid driving licence is essential. The roles We are recruiting for both a Hospitality Team Member and a Duty Manager. Hospitality Team Member: You’ll deliver excellent customer service, welcome guests at reception, support check‑ins and check‑outs, serve food and drinks, and help keep the hostel clean and comfortable. Training is provided, but enthusiasm, flexibility, and a warm approach are essential. Duty Manager: You’ll guide and support the team, oversee daily operations, deputise for the Hostel Manager, and ensure smooth running of the hostel. Previous hospitality or supervisory experience is desirable, along with the ability to lead others and manage varying pressures. Both roles involve a mix of reception, housekeeping, and food service, so you’ll need to be adaptable and ready to get stuck in. What Skills and Experience do you need? For the Team Member role, experience in customer service and teamwork is helpful. For the Duty Manager role, leadership experience and basic IT skills are desirable, along with food safety and licensing qualifications (though training can be provided).
