Pay and Hours
Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £13.28 an hour; this increases to £14.01 for stores inside the M25 but excluding London Boroughs and is £14.21 for stores within Inner London – London Boroughs. Additional payments may also apply depending on location and skills.
It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work – the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, with 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. We support flexibility, so if your availability closely matches but not exactly the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you. Read more.
Our Values
Customers are at the heart of everything we do.
It takes a lot of great people to run our stores, and a great Shift Leader to support them and keep things running smoothly. From helping customers to ensuring store operations stay on track, being a Shift Leader at Tesco is rewarding. You’ll face interesting challenges overseeing the store from the shop floor and strive to improve things for customers, colleagues, and communities daily.
As a Shift Leader, you’ll:
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Assist customers, listening and helping ensure they leave satisfied
* Seek ways to improve service through coaching and feedback
* Guide and support colleagues, ensuring a safe working and shopping environment
* Understand store performance and assist in implementing improvements
* Lead by example, inspiring your colleagues in all you do
