Job Overview
This is a substantive NHS Consultant post with the option to work full or part‑time hours in Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
The North Wales Specialist Palliative Care service is constantly evolving and this post, together with existing posts, will strengthen the Palliative Medicine Consultant team within the Department of Palliative Care. The post holder will work closely with Palliative Medicine Consultants across North Wales, supported by a number of Speciality Doctors and the Specialist Nursing Team.
Main Duties
* Lead a twice‑weekly Consultant ward round in Wrexham Maelor Hospital, support the weekly East SPC MDT meeting, and provide advice, support and informal teaching of hospital colleagues/teams as required.
* Attend the monthly Heart Failure/Palliative Care MDT meeting and the monthly HMP Berwyn Complex Men MDT meeting.
* Provide Medical Leadership of the East Hospital SPC team alongside the named Band 7 Hospital Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) Nurse Lead, coordinating hospital team cover and prioritising workload.
* Contribute to the 24/7 SPC (Medical) Advice Line for Health Care Professionals in North Wales. On‑call commitments are currently one in seven participations for Saturday (9 am to 9 am) and Sunday (9 am to 9 am), and one in seven for weekday evenings (5 pm to 9 am). The line is a telephone advice line; face‑to‑face patient assessments are not anticipated except in exceptional circumstances.

Essential Criteria
* GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT from the date of interview.
* MRCP or equivalent.
* MBChB or equivalent.
Desirable Criteria
* Higher degree.
* Teaching qualification.

* Appropriate experience in training grade posts or equivalent training accepted by Royal College/GMC for Specialist Registration.
* Experience and interest in research.
