A leading national law firm are currently looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor/Team Leader to join their Public Law & Human Rights department to deal with Claims Against Public Authorities.
You’ll lead the Claims Against Public Authorities team, manage a small caseload, and guide a group of solicitors, fee earners, and support staff. Your job is to ensure excellent legal work, support team development, and help the department run smoothly.
Job Title: Solicitor/Team Leader - Claims Against Public Authorities
Location: London (Hybrid working up to 2 days in-office per week)
Reports to: Head of Public Law and Human Rights
Department: Public Law
What You'll Do
* Lead and support your team with regular check-ins, reviews, and coaching
* Oversee performance, set goals, and help the team meet targets
* Ensure compliance with legal aid and regulatory rules
* Manage risks and handle complaints professionally
* Support training and development for team members
* Help with department planning, forecasting, and business development
* Keep a reduced caseload of CAPA matters
What You’ll Need
* Qualified solicitor (Grade A or equivalent)
* Strong experience in actions against public authorities
* Previous team or people management experience
* Knowledge of legal aid work and procedures
* Great communication, organisation, and IT skills
* A sensitive, client-focused approach
