We have exciting opportunities for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our firm.
Working alongside the Project Leader, you will be facing clients, responding to our clients’ needs, developing designs and producing reports, specifications and guidance or overseeing testing and commissioning activities. We work closely as a team to ensure we achieve the best results and deliver a consistent high-quality service for our clients.

The role
You will be responsible for supporting and delivering electrical designs across different sectors. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff delivering a consistent high-quality service for clients, ensuring that repeat and new business opportunities are developed, and profitability is achieved. The role is instrumental in helping to continue to grow and develop a team of technically competent engineers within this high performing sector, as well as seeking new opportunities to develop the business.
What you’ll be doing
1. You will be working across a range of project sectors such as Commercial, Residential, Healthcare and Education
2. You will have the opportunity to lead electrical services design on large projects, and lead overall MEP on small to medium sized projects within the office
3. Responsible for dealing successfully with Clients and other professionals
4. Awareness of consultant appointment conditions
5. Define and agree brief with Client
6. Competently represent Hoare Lea at project meetings
7. Manage and prioritise the workload of a project team including specialist groups
8. Host and chair internal project team meetings
9. Contribute to the professional development of individual team members
10. Actively lead self and identify opportunities and provide support for career development of others
11. Monitor project expenditure and report to Project leader
12. Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy is delivered
13. Reporting cost and resource requirements to Project leader on a regular basis
What We Are Looking For
14. Excellent technical knowledge in Electrical Design Engineering. Thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process
15. Previous consultancy experience: you will appreciate the importance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling in the design of buildings
16. Autonomous approach: able to lead small to medium sized projects and able to take a brief from the project lead on large projects and deliver & control the tasks required
17. Responsible for the quality of our outputs
18. Appreciation of client needs, with ability to face clients
19. Ability to identity when outsourcing is required e.g. design & CAD work
20. Understand and identify resource needs
21. Mentor and supervise junior members of staff
22. Ideally Chartered engineer or working towards
