National Account Manager - Hybrid
£60 - 65k plus car allowance
This Account Manager role will be ideal for a candidate who is used to the demands and dynamics of managing a major UK food retail account. The roles requires energy, along with a combination of commercial ability and broader market and business awareness. The food industry is demanding in itself, so the client is looking for a strong commercial candidate to maintain, develop, and manage key customers.
This role requires an experienced individual to take ownership of a key national account and accelerate growth within this strategically important channel. It offers significant autonomy, full commercial responsibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact in a dynamic, ambitious business.
The Role
Lead the commercial agenda for a major national account
Full P&L responsibility
Deliver sales, margin, and growth targets
Build strong relationships with customer buying teams
Lead annual planning, reviews, and commercial negotiations
Secure new listings and drive distribution gains
Manage pricing, promotions, and joint business discussions
Work cross‑functionally with NPD, supply chain, operations, and marketing
Monitor performance and act quickly on risks and opportunities
Track performance, analyse risks and opportunities, and act quickly to course-correct
Your Background Should Include
A successful, measurable commercial background in the food or FMCG sector
Proven experience managing major retail or key account relationships
Strong commercial achievement record with evidence of delivering growth
Strong commercial judgement: pricing, margin management, negotiation
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
Highly analytical and confident using data to inform decisions
Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing priorities
