Security Officer – National Grid, Eakring Training Facilities
📍 Location: Eakring | Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour
⏰ Hours: 42 per week | Shifts: 4 on, 4 off (12‑hour shifts, including days, nights & weekends)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of National Grid’s training facilities. The role requires vigilance, professionalism, and adherence to security protocols to protect people, property, and assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain site security in line with Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and company policies.
* Monitor for risks, respond to incidents, and report health & safety hazards.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations and complete required training.
* Maintain accurate records and elevate issues when necessary.
* Conduct regular patrols and ensure adherence to all safety procedures.
Requirements
* DS (Door Supervisor) SIA Licence (must be worn on duty).
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential for site accessibility).
* Enhanced DBS Clearance (required).
* Previous security experience (preferred).
* SC Clearance desirable.
Job Overview – Additional Duties
* Protect customer property, people, and assets according to published Assignment Instructions.
* Deliver results that meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreements, aiding in contract retention.
* Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.
* Ensure compliance with UK law, regulations, and all policies, including front‑line licence requirements and CCTV PSS SIA Licence.
* Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
Training and Development
* Complete all required competency training.
* Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continual professional development.
* Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
* Report any Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards immediately.
* Stay alert to any threats or changes in the work environment and take appropriate action to reduce disruption.
* Use common sense and initiative to involve others if a situation appears threatening.
* Maintain professional conduct with difficult customers.
* Complete accurate, detailed notebook entries after incidents for Incident Report process.
* Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
* Ensure check calls are performed at allocated time slots as stipulated in Assignment Instructions.
* Call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
