A growing and well-established fire safety consultancy is seeking an Associate Fire Engineer to join their expanding team.
This Associate Fire Engineer opportunity is available across multiple UK locations and offers involvement in a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK and internationally.
The Associate Fire Engineer will play a key leadership role, contributing to both technical delivery and the ongoing development of the team.
The Associate Fire Engineer's Role
The Associate Fire Engineer will lead fire engineering projects from inception through to completion, working closely with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders. The Associate Fire Engineer will also support business strategy and mentor junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing fee proposals, fire strategy reports, and technical documentation
Attending client meetings, undertaking site inspections, and presenting fire strategies
Reviewing architectural drawings to identify risks and opportunities
Conducting means of escape analysis and evacuation calculations
Undertaking computational evacuation modelling
Completing fire engineering calculations including smoke control and radiant heat
Carrying out third-party reviews and design verification
Applying UK fire safety legislation and standards across projects
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and contributing to their development
Assisting with strategic objectives and contributing to senior-level discussionsThe Associate Fire Engineer
The ideal Associate Fire Engineer will demonstrate strong technical expertise alongside leadership and commercial awareness. The Associate Fire Engineer will be proactive, solutions-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
Requirements include:
A degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
A minimum of 4 years' experience as a Senior Fire Engineer or equivalent
Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (AIFireE or MIFireE)
Strong understanding of ADB, BS 9999, and BS 9991
Proven ability to develop and deliver fire engineering design solutions
Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
Commercial awareness and experience supporting project delivery
