Job Role: Cleaning Supervisor
Working Hours: 38.5 hours per week, varied shift pattern - this is a fully flex role requiring availability across a variety of days and shift times
Pay: £15.25 per hour
Location: St Johns Shopping Centre, St George's Place, Liverpool, L1 1LY
Reporting to: SoftServices Manager & Associate KeyAccounts Director
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for a Cleaning Supervisor to join our established team at St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool.
This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role where you will lead by example, working alongside the cleaning team to maintain exceptional standards throughout the centre. Whilst supervision forms part of the role, this is not a desk‑based position. We are looking for someone who is visible, approachable and takes pride in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for shoppers, retailers and visitors.
At St Johns, our cleaning team plays an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone who visits the centre. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their surroundings and leads by example.
The successful candidate will be proactive, observant and adaptable, with the confidence to lead a team from the front.
This is a fully flexible role requiring availability across a variety of days and shift patterns (including weekends), as per the site rota. Shifts may begin as early as 6am, so reliable transport for early starts is essential.
Duties include:
* Leading from the front as a hands-on supervisor, working alongside the cleaning team every day.
* Maintaining exceptional cleaning and presentation standards throughout the shopping centre.
* Acting as an ambassador for St Johns Shopping Centre, providing a welcoming, helpful and professional presence for customers and retailers.
* Conducting regular walk‑rounds of the centre, identifying and addressing issues before they impact the customer experience.
* Supporting and motivating team members to deliver consistently high standards.
* Building positive relationships with retailers, visitors and colleagues across the centre.
* Ensuring all cleaning activities are carried out safely and in accordance with Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
* Supporting the wider operation of the centre by responding flexibly to changing priorities and daily challenges.

Requirements
* Proven experience in a cleaning or facilities environment, with previous supervisory or team leader experience
* Strong understanding of cleaning standards, methods, and best practices, ideally within a retail or busy environment
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and COSHH
* Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a team to achieve high performance standards
* Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues, management, and members of the public
* Ability to handle customer queries, complaints, and conflict professionally and calmly
* Reliable, punctual and organised, with a proactive approach to maintaining high standards
* Flexible approach to work, including availability for early starts, late finishes, and weekend shifts
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment while maintaining attention to detail
