Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to support learners aged 16–19 in achieving their English and Maths functional skills qualifications, along with employability and personal skills. This is a part-time freelance role (2 days per week) for an initial 4-month period, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.
About the Role
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will:
* Deliver engaging and supportive lessons in Functional Skills English and Maths.
* Work with small groups of learners to build confidence and improve essential skills.
* Adapt your teaching to meet a variety of learning styles and individual needs.
* Support learners in developing employability and life skills alongside their studies.
* Track progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare learners for assessments.
What We're Looking For
* Experience of teaching Functional Skills English and/or Maths (16–19 age group preferred).
* A passion for working with young people, supporting them to reach their potential.
* Good classroom management and the ability to engage and motivate learners.
* Flexibility, reliability, and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to start immediately
Desirable (but not essential)
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. AET, CET (PTLLS/CTLLS), CertEd, PGCE, DET).
* Previous experience working with learners who may have barriers to learning.
