Senior Theatre Practitioner (ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse)
We are recruiting for an Operating Department Practitioner or Theatre Nurse to our multidisciplinary team. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great places".
Our service consists of 4 main theatres, 2 day surgery theatres, 1 ophthalmology theatre and 1 maternity theatre. We can provide experience in a number of surgical specialities including: General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Urology, Emergency Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology.
Main duties of the job
The Role: Based within our Main Theatres team, you will enjoy a varied caseload and join our team of senior theatre practitioners in supporting service delivery, junior staff, learners and the Theatre Leadership team.
* Registration: Qualified Theatre Practitioner (Nurse or ODP).
* Experience: At least 1 year recent theatre experience.
* Flexibility: Dependant on your skills and experience, this role includes nights, weekends and on‑calls. As a senior theatre practitioner you will be expected to lead the team out of hours.
* Bonus: Current Surgical First Assistant (SFA) module/competencies or Anaesthetic Nurse qualification for Registered Nurses.

* Willingness to undertake degree study
* Registered Nurse/ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Awareness of NHS Plan targets relating to patients who attend the Theatre
* Knowledge of Trust Policies and Procedures
* Able to organise workload of others and delegate
* Able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in a senior role in theatres
Desirable
* Post graduate study such as Anaesthetic Nurse/ SFA
* Evidence of leadership experience underpinned by study
