SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor - Havering
About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Tutor to provide bespoke, 1:1 educational support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are currently out of mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about making a difference and delivering highly personalised learning experiences.
As an SEN Specialist Tutor, you will:
Design and deliver individualised learning plans tailored to each student's needs, abilities, and interests.
Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language difficulties, and other complex learning challenges.
Focus on bridging gaps in education, boosting confidence, and re-engaging learners who may have been out of school for an extended period.
Provide structure and routine to help pupils develop positive learning habits and improve attainment.
Work closely with Prospero Teaching and local authorities to monitor progress and ensure effective outcomes.This role is ideal for a qualified teacher or experienced tutor who wants to move away from the traditional classroom setting and deliver flexible, impactful sessions that truly change lives.

Hours: 10-20 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary, ongoing
Pay Rate: From £25 per hour
Session Length: Minimum 1 hour, maximum 3 hours per sessionWhat We're Looking For
Qualifications:
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) preferred
QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification also considered
Experience:
Minimum 6 months experience working with SEN pupils in a UK school or tutoring environment
Strong understanding of strategies for supporting diverse learning needs
Skills:
Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying abilities
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
Safeguarding:
Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must:
Have the Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
