(3 days) Job Description Role of the Supply Chain Governance Team (SCG) The SCG function provides Director Joint Support (DJS) with assurance and governance of the coherent, efficient, and effective integration and delivery of the supply chain functions that are required to deliver operational level support to Defence at an appropriate level of resilience against commitments. Supply Chain Governance – Governance Team The Governance Team provides Director Joint Support with End to End (E2E) Supply Chain Governance covering, Assurance Risk and Performance ensuring the integrity, compliance, and efficiency of supply chain operations. This team ensures transparency, monitors supplier relationships, assess risks related to geopolitical factors, environmental impact, and cyber security threats, and implement strategies for resilience and sustainability. Additionally, they oversee audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance. Supply Chain Governance – Governance Team The Governance Team provides Director Joint Support with End to End (E2E) Supply Chain Governance covering, Assurance Risk and Performance ensuring the integrity, compliance, and efficiency of supply chain operations. This team ensures transparency, monitors supplier relationships, assess risks related to geopolitical factors, environmental impact, and cyber security threats, and implement strategies for resilience and sustainability. Additionally, they oversee audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance. Person specification Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Demand Forecasting: Use predictive analytics to anticipate end-user requirements based on mission tempo and operational conditions. Quality Assurance (QA) Inspections: Verify that materials meet specifications before being deployed Data-driven insights enable optimisation. Inventory Verification: Regularly reconcile physical inventory with digital records to prevent loss or discrepancy Training and Skills Development: Train personnel in inventory management, supply chain risk assessment, and handling technologies Integrated demand forecasting: Include Operational and maintenance needs in forecasting to ensure continuous availability of supplies for both immediate and long-term sustainment Life-cycle stock management: Manage inventory to include not only consumables but spares, tools and equipment needed for repairs and upgrades Last Mile considerations for support chains: Ensure critical spare parts are available at forward locations to minimise downtime for platforms and equipment Maintenance and repair systems: Ensure critical spares are available at forward locations to minimise downtime Rotational Stock Support: Implement systems to rotate and refresh support inventories to avoid obsolescence and ensure readiness Comprehensive Risk Audits: Evaluate both supply and support chains for vulnerabilities, including supplier dependencies and long lead times for critical spare parts Platform-Specific Quality Assurance (QA): Verify that consumables, spare parts, and maintenance tools meet the technical specifications for their associated platforms. Configuration Control: Ensure support chain inventory is aligned with evolving Predictive Maintenance Systems: Leverage IoT and machine learning to forecast maintenance needs and automatically trigger resupply of spare parts. requirements to avoid incompatibilities due to upgrades or modifications. Procurement: Include long-lead items, platform-specific tools, and consumables in procurement strategies. Platform Lifecycle Management: Incorporate assurance activities at every stage of a platform’s lifecycle, from design to disposal, ensuring compatibility with supply and support chains. Field Support Capabilities: Ensure mobile repair facilities and technical teams are equipped with the right tools, training, and inventory.
