Physiotherapist Band 6
Rotational band 6 Physiotherapy roles within the Acute Therapy department at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. The positions rotate among Critical Care & Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics & Surgery, with weekend and emergency on‑call duties required.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using evidence‑based principles in Critical Care & Medicine, Orthopaedics & Surgery, and Care of the Elderly.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner, providing specialist assessments, treatments and maintaining records in line with Trust and professional standards.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including patients, families/carers and the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide leadership, training, and education to junior staff, students and assistants, and oversee supervision and one‑to‑one sessions.
* Deputise for the clinical lead in absence.
* Prioritise effectively and remain organised in a busy, high‑pressure environment.
Person Specification
Qualification
* BSc, MSc or diploma leading to Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
* Registered with the Health Professional Council (HCPC).
Knowledge and Understanding
* Concepts of treatment in Acute Hospital adult rehabilitation.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its impact on clinical practice.
* Awareness of audit processes.
Experience
* Broad postgraduate experience, including rotations in Elder Rehabilitation & Neurology, Respiratory Care, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, and Orthopaedics.
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Use of SOAP notes, POMR, and outcome measures.
* Experience with several acute inpatient rotations (desirable).
* Previous Band 6 post (desirable).
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to manage own caseload with strong time‑management and organisational skills.
* Good clinical reasoning across a wide range of core areas.
Additional Information
UK registration is required. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be undertaken under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary: £45,953 to £54,254 per annum, inclusive of HCAS (Outer).
Contract: Fixed term, 1 year.
Working pattern: Full time.
