We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small multi-disciplined team of engineers based in our Inverness office. This role is office-based but may require occasional travel to other offices and site locations. Hybrid working arrangements may be discussed.
This position is responsible for actively participating in the design, development, testing, and production of existing & new Gael Force Group products, as well as producing design, test, build & customer documentation. The focus will be on products and systems that involve integration with electrical and electronic engineering within the challenging dynamic marine environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop new and current products in collaboration with the Product Development team.
* Provide mechanical engineering expertise to support the development of new designs, aiding the company's support, development, and expansion of its product range.
* Support a wide range of products, including documentation (internal and external).
* Create drawings and technical documentation to support product development.
* Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records.
* Conduct site visits and investigations as needed.
* Participate in planning, programming, and engineering support of projects.
* Communicate with clients regarding project aspects, including attending site and contract meetings.
* Coordinate with suppliers for product development.
* Prepare and update bills of materials for new and existing products.
* Identify and resolve product improvement and reliability issues.
* Ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
* Investigate fault reports and develop solutions.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders as required.
* Adhere to all relevant company policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience with mechanical product specifications.
* Understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
* Proficiency with CAD software.
* Strong organizational and management skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and independently.
* Willingness to travel and work away from home occasionally.
* Excellent communication and writing skills.
* Initiative and teamwork skills.
* Valid driving license.
* Experience with FEA.
* Experience working in a marine environment.
* Understanding of the aquaculture industry.
