Performance & Controls Engineer
We have a requirement for an experienced, dedicated and detail orientated Performance & Controls Engineer to work in a progressive motorsport environment.
Reporting to the Chief Race Engineer, you will have :-
* Support the Race Engineer in all performance and data analysis aspects of the car operation.
* Preparation of Vehicle control performance systems setting for trackside and simulator events. Broadly speaking, Performance engineers are responsible for setting the target, Controls engineers are responsible for doing the best to achieve the target.
* Using data analysis and good base level understanding of vehicle dynamics and the control systems to provide detailed feedback to the race engineer, driver, and technical team on car performance and potential setup changes
* Assist the race engineer with in-race tracking of energy usage, lap count and competitor analysis for the purpose of planning and executing the best possible race outcome.
* Work with the Systems engineers to ensure thorough data checks before and after sessions.
* Maintain detailed documentation of performance data, controls settings and relevant conclusions during the event.
* Assist in the specification of longer-term future car requirements.
* Collaborate with the Vehicle Performance group to define, develop and maintain data analysis tools and functions to aid with the analysis of car performance metrics.
* Contribute to regular car/systems performance review meetings & assist in give direction to supporting engineers on performance areas to focus on.
* Perform comprehensive post-event data & performance analysis with written reports
* Contribute to Pre-Event simulator sessions
* A minimum 3 years relevant experience race engineering at the highest levels of motorsport i.e. Formula E, Formula 1, Formula 2, WEC, Indycar etc
* A lifestyle that allows and enjoys extensive international travel.
Core Skills
* Excellent and demonstrable trackside engineering ability.
* Ability to remain clear, calm and maintain consistent communication channels with other engineers at all times.
* In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics and interaction with electric powertrain control systems.
* Vehicle performance development and testing experience.
* Proficiency with modern data analysis tools.
* Control of strategic decision-making deployment with the support of other Team Engineers.
* Excellent inter-personal and reporting skills to clearly disseminate engineering information.
* Degree educated (Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics)
