Graduate Learning Support Assistant

Looking to grow real SEN expertise in a high-performing school?

Use calm routines and clear language to help pupils with Autism, ADHD and EBD access learning.

*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £95 - £110 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Selly Oak
*** SEN support – Autism, ADHD and EBD

What you’ll do:
Provide steady 1:1 and small-group support. Break tasks into simple stages, use visual schedules/now–next boards, and scaffold transitions so lessons feel predictable. Blend in-class assistance with short withdrawal sessions that build communication, regulation and core literacy/numeracy. Capture brief updates and agree next steps with teachers and the SENCO.

Who you are:
Patient, organised and straight-talking. You follow support plans, keep boundaries fair and consistent, spot triggers early, and adjust your approach without fuss.

Requirements
* Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
* Communication – Clear, confident written and spoken English.
* Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
* Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour and pupil wellbeing.
* Experience working with children – Relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Outstanding’ Selly Oak primary is two-form entry with calm, well-ordered classrooms and a culture that blends high expectations with kindness. Inclusion is embedded: the SEN team runs tight plan–do–review cycles, keeps visual supports and sensory tools to hand, and offers access to regulation spaces when pupils need a reset. Reading is front and centre (systematic phonics, daily guided reading, rich vocabulary), while maths is taught through small, connected steps with frequent retrieval and consistent methods across year groups. Teams co-plan and share high-quality materials—model texts, worked examples and ready-to-use intervention packs—so you’re never starting from scratch. New staff receive a clear induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop-ins with precise, usable pointers—ideal conditions to show impact quickly and build a strong portfolio for Educational Psychology or ITT.

How to Apply
Email your CV and confirm availability and DBS status (add two referees if you can). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief phone screen and in-school observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date. xsngvjr

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
