Description
Co-ordinate and source a programme of work experience activities, including internships assessing the practical skills of students, in order to match them to the most suitable available industry placement appropriate to their course.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks:
* Co-ordinate and source external and internal work placements for students, pro-actively seeking out and engaging with new employers, to increase the range and breadth of placements available for students, including those with a range of learning difficulties and/ or disabilities, including visiting new employers to identify placement opportunities, arranging and attending work placement interviews with students and conducting Health & Safety checks of placements.
* Assess the practical skills of student both in the work place and at the College as necessary, undertaking and reviewing health and safety risk assessments drawn up at external employers’ premise for each individual student to ensure their safety whilst on work placements.
* Monitor, review and record student progress in their placement, including conducting work-based observations at employers premises, completing observation reports on students in their work placement, and review on-going progress with students, maintaining own records of student progress and achievement in line with qualification requirements. This will include recording information on student progress and reviews on College on-line systems.
* Co-ordinate, monitor and review a programme of business enterprises for students within the Foundation Learning and ESOL departments as required, working with the departments to provide the best available opportunities for students.
* Co-ordinate, monitor and review a programme of external community projects for students as required, visiting sites to assess their suitability for student participation.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all work experience activity undertaken and maintain SharePoint to ensure all interested parties are informed of progress.
* Contribute to course review and action planning procedures, providing up to date information and data on student progress and achievement in their placements, in order to ensure that placements match the needs of the relevant study programme.
* Liaise with and assist the learning leads to ensure the recruitment and selection of students is appropriate to the work experience placement on offer.
In addition all post holders will be required to be trained to act as Fire Marshals and First Aiders.
