We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to help design, automate, and support the secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure that underpins everything we do - from flexible learning environments to cutting-edge research. Reporting to the Infrastructure Services Team Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering services that are available, secure, compliant, and ready for the future.
Responsibilities
 * Design and deliver hybrid cloud and on-premises solutions using technologies like Microsoft Azure, Nutanix, Rubrik, Microsoft Teams (VoIP), Linux, Juniper and Fortinet.
 * Automate deployments and streamline operations through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
 * Support and optimise live, development, and test environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
 * Resolve complex issues and provide third-line support, collaborating with colleagues and external partners to maintain and improve services.
 * Champion best practice, contributing to continuous improvement, compliance (GDPR, Cyber Essentials), and modern service management standards.
 * Take part in our out-of-hours support rota for critical services and be on site 3 days a week due to business needs; flexible to work from home but on-site presence is expected as required.
Qualifications
 * Solid experience with Azure, Nutanix, Linux, and Rubrik in complex infrastructure environments.
 * A strong grasp of IT operations, software development lifecycles, and service management.
 * Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset, able to translate technical solutions into real-world impact.
 * A desire to learn, evolve, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
 * If you thrive in environments where technology underpins meaningful change - and where your work directly supports teaching, research, and innovation - we'd love to hear from you.
