Overview
Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. HPC's two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the project\'s "clean energy" benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Responsibilities
* A Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is required to work closely with Contractors and Engineering teams to review design packages prior to the start of manufacture and to provide specialist expertise to support Suppliers in meeting the requirements of the Technical Specifications.
* Assist the implementation of HPC & Sizewell C project sourcing strategies by conducting in-depth technical assessments of supplier NDT operations to confirm capabilities and identify any gaps that may require further NDT specialist support.
* Perform routine witnessing and surveillance of Supplier NDT arrangements during manufacture prior to product release to the HPC site.
* Serve as the go-to person for all matters relating to NDT and provide support to the wider team on technical issues.
Qualifications
* Qualification in an Engineering discipline, Degree/ HNC / HND, (or lower if combined with experience gained in complex plant or related industry).
* Preferably an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
* Experience in an NDT leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
* Level 3 certification (e.g., ASNT, PCN) with experience of the application of NDT and plant inspection in the nuclear sector or a related industry.
* Knowledge of working to UK and international standards and codes of practice ideally in the UK Nuclear sector.
