Band 6 Urgent Care Practitioner – Derby NHS Service Care Solutions
Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Urgent Care Practitioner to support one of our NHS partners based in Derby. This role is ideal for clinicians seeking flexible work within a busy and supportive urgent care environment.
Shift Patterns The service offers mainly daytime shifts, including:
08:00 – 16:00
10:15 – 20:45Once fully approved and compliant, clinicians will have the ability to self book from the available shifts.
Role Overview As a Band 6 Urgent Care Practitioner, you will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of urgent and unplanned presentations across both adult and paediatric populations.
Key Clinical Responsibilities Minor Illness Experienced in managing:
Respiratory infections
ENT conditions
Abdominal pain
Urinary symptoms
Dermatology and rashes
Viral illnesses
General infectionsMinor Injuries Competent in:
Sprains and strains
Simple fractures
Wound assessment and closure
Burns and scalds
Soft?tissue injuries
Musculoskeletal presentationsPaediatrics Ability to assess and treat children aged:
0–12 months
12–24 months
24+ months
Competent with fever management, rashes, viral illness, and minor injuries.Mental Health Management
Initial assessment and risk evaluation
Support for crisis presentations
Management of low level mental health concerns
Appropriate escalation and safeguardingPregnancy Related Illnesses
Triage of early-pregnancy symptoms
Identifying red flag concerns
Safe management and referral according to guidelinesIdeal Candidate
Registered Nurse, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional
Previous experience within Urgent Care, Walk In Centres, A&E, or GP Out?of?Hours
Confident working autonomously
