Learning Support Assistant SEMH
Canterbury, Kent - ASAP
We are working closely with a specialist SEN provision in Canterbury who are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This Learning Support Assistant role is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who require consistency, patience, and positive role modelling within a structured and nurturing environment.
The Role
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
* Assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour support, and social development
* Helping students engage with learning through adapted and differentiated activities
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
* Supporting pupils with routines, transitions, and personalised support plans
The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience working with SEMH and/or ASC (school or alternative provision experience desirable)
* A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
* A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Salary: 90 - 100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
