The Role
We are recruiting a Band 6 30‑hour per week IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Gastroenterology service at Clyde Sector of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post holder will be based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital, contributing to the development of the existing IBD and Gastroenterology Service across all three Clyde hospitals.
The post holder will predominantly work as an IBD clinical nurse specialist across a variety of settings, including medical and surgical inpatients, outpatients and endoscopy. Key duties include delivering nurse‑led clinics, patient education, treatment and support, and developing clinical assessment and triage skills.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
* Shift pattern: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, 30 hours per week.
* Salary is paid pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
* Based at Royal Alexandra Hospital with required work at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
* A live NMC UK pin is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Work autonomously and prioritise own workload while contributing to the existing Gastroenterology nursing teams.
* Maintain and develop relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
* Deliver nurse‑led clinics focused on treatment response, advanced therapy education, screening, IBD‑related cancer surveillance and disease relapse management.
* Collaborate with patient relatives and primary‑care teams to promote early recognition of relapse, prompt management and prevent unnecessary admissions.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and staff training.
* Receive full induction and training, ongoing support and professional development.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and a minimum of 5 years post‑registration experience.
* Significant experience in a gastroenterology or medical setting.
* Certificate in intravenous cannulation, intravenous drug administration and venepuncture.
* Degree‑educated.
* IT competence (desirable).
* Demonstrated ability to work at an advanced practice level.
* Non‑Medical Prescriber qualification (NMC).
