About the role
The post holder will carry twenty‑four hour continuing responsibility for the management of their respective ward. They will be highly experienced in general medical nursing and possess specialist knowledge and expertise in the area of rehabilitation and complex discharge planning. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a quality nursing service to all patients in their care, ensuring that all resources are used to optimum effect. They will be responsible for the devising and implementation of policies and procedures for their ward, which will ensure the highest standards of patient care within existing/current resources and which will ensure the highest standards and mission of the LHB. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of staff through the observance and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and also assist them in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs through the implementation of LHB policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Have a continuing responsibility of the management and delivery of a 27 bedded rehabilitation/ complex discharge mixed general ward ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
* Assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems and processes to monitor
o Quality of care
o Adherence to LHB policies and procedures
o Clinical practice
* Deputise as necessary for the Senior
* Maximise the performance of all staff within delegated areas ensuring effective structures for the supervision and direction of work.
