Job summary We are looking for a Catering Services Manager to work on our Sutton site primarily. Work will involve overseeing staff and HACCP procedures in all catering areas including on our ward areas, the restaurant & cafe, functions ensuring we are maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all areas of the work place. Please refer to the job descriptions for further details of this post. This position may include working weekends and a variety of shifts both morning and evening, working 5 days out of 7, as required. Main duties of the job To provide the highest level of catering service possible for patients, visitors and staff, commensurate with financial considerations. Ensuring that food for staff, patients, and visitors is of the highest possible standard in the Restaurant, NHS Wards, Private Wards, commensurate with financial constraints. To ensure that perishable and non-perishable items are ordered, received, stored and dispatched in accordance with the stores operational procedures, time constraints and department needs. To ensure "Best Value" is achieved at all times in line with Trust and NHS financial guidelines. To liaise with the Head Chef/Catering Team ensuring that the correct procedures are being followed regarding decanting and issue of stock. To co-ordinate all management aspects of catering, as directed by the Senior Catering Services Manager/Head of Catering. Manage all operational aspects of the catering service in ward areas, the childrens unit (Sutton) and private patient areas on a day-to-day basis including the distribution of all foodstuffs produced and provided. Implement and review with the other Managers and supervisors the management control systems for the service, using appropriate recognised techniques, to ensure that good practices prevail and exercises sufficient monitoring and control to ensure that the HACCP plan is always effective and working and adhered to. Ensure appropriate recruitment and selection of staff and the compilation of cost-effective staff rotas. Ensure the ward kitchen cleaning schedules and job sheets are updated and adhered to, and that planned daily and weekly cleaning is monitored. Formulate and implement appropriate monitoring packages for the business of the service. Highlights any cost improvement, income generation, and change of practice ideas. Maintain good security practices with reference to cash handling and stock control. Person Specification Skills Essential Numerate Understand and follow budgetary & Cost Control Procedures Experience Essential Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 4) Willing to undergo relevant training as required Demonstrable knowledge of Catering services HACCP Level 3 or 4 (or a willingness to undergo training in this area.)
