An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a highly connected, strategic and creative Head of PR to join the Communications Team at The Birley Clubs, based in our Head Office in Mayfair.

The Birley Clubs operate some of the world’s most iconic private members’ clubs - Annabel’s, Mark’s Club, George, Harry’s Bar and Bath & Racquets Club - each renowned internationally for discretion, elegance and uncompromising standards.

As Head of PR, you will lead the PR and media strategy across the portfolio, driving high-impact coverage, cultivating influential relationships, and ensuring The Birley Clubs remain at the forefront of the luxury, hospitality and cultural landscape.

Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, this is a senior role requiring outstanding media contacts, strong editorial instinct, and the ability to balance exclusivity with visibility


Job Purpose

The Head of PR will lead the PR function for The Birley Clubs, setting and delivering a sophisticated communications strategy that enhances brand prestige while protecting the exclusivity and integrity of the Clubs.

You will possess an exceptional understanding of the UK and international media landscape, with established relationships across top-tier luxury, lifestyle, fashion, society and business press. You will be confident operating at senior level, working closely with editors, journalists, VIPs, talent agencies, publicists and luxury brands to secure meaningful, high-quality coverage and partnerships.

The role requires strong editorial judgement, commercial awareness, and the ability to generate compelling stories while maintaining the controlled messaging appropriate to a collection of private members’ clubs.


INTRODUCTION TO THE BIRLEY CLUBS

Since the opening of the legendary Annabel’s in 1963, The Birley Clubs have created an oasis of sophistication, unparalleled quality and service in the heart of London.

Today the portfolio comprises five distinct private members’ clubs, each unique in character yet united by a shared commitment to excellence: the drama and glamour of Annabel’s, the continental elegance of Harry’s Bar, the heritage of Mark’s Club, the contemporary refinement of George, and the sporting tradition of Bath & Racquets Club.

Membership remains highly selective, granted only through nomination and seconding by existing Members. Across all Clubs, the hallmarks remain constant - discretion, meticulous attention to detail, exceptional food and drink, and a culture of service that makes membership a privilege.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Devise and lead the PR strategy across The Birley Clubs, ensuring alignment with overall marketing and business objectives
* Identify and deliver high-impact stories, campaigns and moments that elevate brand perception while respecting the Clubs’ need for discretion and controlled access
* Define clear KPIs for PR performance, with regular reporting on coverage quality, reach, and commercial impact
* Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on reputation, positioning and communications opportunities
* Develop and implement crisis communication plans and manage sensitive issues with confidence and discretion
* Oversee the annual PR budget and ensure cost-effective delivery of activity
* Maintain exceptional standards of written communication, including press releases, quotes, statements and briefing materials


Press & Media Relations

* Demonstrate a proven track record of securing top-tier coverage in luxury, lifestyle, fashion, food, travel, business and international press
* Maintain strong personal relationships with key editors, journalists and media decision-makers
* Proactively generate consistent, high-quality coverage across all Clubs, including food & drink, events, design, culture, philanthropy and partnerships
* Host press within the Clubs with confidence and professionalism, ensuring the experience reflects brand standards
* Lead strategies to achieve international coverage when required, particularly across US, European and Middle Eastern luxury media
* Develop thought‑leadership and profiling opportunities for the business and its leadership


VIP & Cultural Relations

* Lead the strategy for VIP, cultural and high-profile guest engagement across The Birley Clubs, ensuring all activity supports the brand’s positioning, reputation and membership objectives
* Maintain strong relationships with talent agencies, publicists, artists, authors, cultural figures, society contacts and industry leaders relevant to the Clubs
* Identify and host key talent and high-profile guests at Club events, launches and member moments, ensuring their presence enhances the cultural relevance and prestige of the brand
* Work closely with the Membership team to identify prospective Members, Committee candidates and influential individuals aligned with each Club’s character and values
* Support the development of events, partnerships and editorial moments that attract notable and culturally significant figures to the Clubs
* Act as an ambassador for The Birley Clubs when engaging with VIPs, Members, partners and press, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and discretion
* Ensure all external engagement protects the exclusivity of the Clubs while reinforcing their position at the centre of London’s cultural and social landscape


Brand Partnerships

* Identify and develop brand collaborations across luxury, fashion, beauty, travel and culture
* Propose partnerships that enhance member experience while strengthening brand prestige
* Work closely with internal teams to execute partnerships seamlessly across PR, marketing and events


Leadership

* Lead, mentor and inspire the PR team, maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism
* Manage agencies and external partners where required
* Build strong relationships across the business, including operations, membership, events and senior leadership
* Act as a trusted advisor to the CMO on all PR and reputational matters


PERSONAL PROFILE

* Significant experience in a senior PR role within luxury hospitality, private members’ clubs, fashion, lifestyle or high-end consumer brands
* Exceptional knowledge of the UK media landscape, with strong international contacts
* Demonstrable track record of securing top-tier coverage and delivering high-impact campaigns
* Highly connected within media, VIP, agency and luxury brand networks
* Confident working with high-profile individuals and sensitive environments
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of brand positioning
* Highly organised, detail-driven and able to manage multiple priorities
* Calm under pressure, with the ability to respond quickly and decisively
* A natural leader, capable of motivating and developing a high-performing team
* Strong interest in luxury, hospitality, fashion, culture and social trends
* Experience in hospitality, philanthropy or private members’ environments advantageous
