About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished
Fleet Delivery Manager
to take strategic ownership of our clients rolling stock fleet operations. This pivotal role will lead the delivery, performance, and availability of our rail assets, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will be accountable for long-term fleet strategy, major programme delivery, and developing the next generation of fleet leaders, while engaging with stakeholders across the industry to achieve shared objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership:
Develop and deliver a multi-year rolling stock strategy, aligned to operational, safety, and commercial objectives.
* Programme Management:
Lead large-scale fleet programmes, including upgrades, overhauls, refurbishments, and new fleet introductions.
* Operational Delivery:
Oversee the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of the fleet, ensuring maximum availability and punctuality.
* Manager Development:
Mentor and grow a team of fleet managers and supervisors, creating a strong leadership pipeline.
* Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including train operating companies, maintenance providers, regulatory bodies, manufacturers, and unions.
* Compliance & Standards:
Ensure all operations meet statutory requirements, industry standards, and internal governance processes.
* Continuous Improvement:
Champion innovation in fleet operations, embedding best practice and new technologies.
* Budget & Performance Management:
Own budgets and KPIs for fleet delivery, driving cost efficiency without compromising safety or service.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in rolling stock or rail fleet management at a senior level.
* Track record in delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programmes on time and within budget.
* Strong leadership and people development skills, with experience building high-performing teams.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Deep understanding of rail industry standards, safety requirements, and compliance frameworks.
* Commercial acumen with strong budgetary and contract management skills.
* Skilled in using fleet management systems, data analytics, and reporting tools.
