Our client is a growing medium‑sized consultancy based in Cardiff or near Swansea, working extensively in residential, commercial and mixed‑use building sectors. This role offers a collaborative work environment, hybrid work options, promotion from within, bonus schemes and flexible arrangements.
Responsibilities
* Assist in producing calculations, drawings and reports ready for peer review and deliver high‑quality designs in concrete, steel, masonry and timber.
* Apply Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM regulations and other relevant design codes.
* Support Senior Engineers through project design from inception to completion.
* Produce clear hand‑drawn sketches and annotations where required.
* Conduct thorough site investigations, inspections and resolve any arising issues.
* Manage and coordinate CAD technicians to produce high‑quality designs.
* Represent the company at design‑team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
* Lead, mentor, motivate junior engineers.
* Work towards chartership if not already Chartered, with support from mentor and colleagues.
* Keep professional development up to date with IPD/CPD and membership requirements of IStructE and/or ICE.
* Communicate clearly with all design or construction team members.
* Produce written reports following structural inspections of construction works and building defects.
* Demonstrate working experience across new build, refurbishment and conversion projects in multiple sectors.
Software Capabilities
* AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, Bluebeam
* Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education & Qualifications
* BEng/MEng or equivalent degree
* Near chartership with IStructE or ICE
