Your Role
We have opportunities for Permanent Highways Maintenance Operatives and Traffic Management Operatives to join our NMC SW Account in Polmadie.
Our NMC SW works in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery, winter maintenance, and incident response.
The team is first on the scene to assist road users, delivering engineering design and operational services for over 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures, ensuring reliable journeys and high customer care.
Our goal is to maintain roads and highways in all weather conditions, creating safe, well-functioning spaces that minimize disruption and support communities.
Working Hours
The standard hours are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime, on-call rotas, and night shifts may be required.
Highways Maintenance Operatives Responsibilities
* Undertaking highway maintenance including routine and cyclic activities, minor civils works, and litter picking.
* Driving/operating vehicles and plant, ensuring checks, maintenance, and cleaning.
* Participating in winter and summer standby, including emergency call-outs.
* Prioritizing safety for yourself and the team.
* Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and paperwork.
Traffic Management Operative Responsibilities
* Supporting delivery of temporary traffic management, including lane closures, diversions, traffic lights, and convoy systems.
* Driving/operating vehicles and plant, ensuring checks, maintenance, and cleaning.
* Participating in winter maintenance and emergency standby.
* Ensuring safety and accurate record-keeping, including drivers’ hours and paperwork.
* Having traffic management qualifications in Sector 12 A, B, C, and D.
Minimum Requirements
Class 2 HGV Licence is essential. Civil or landscaping experience, especially in street works, is preferred.
