About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance, part of Benefact Group, is seeking a Casualty Portfolio Underwriter to join the team.
This key role supports the Casualty Underwriting Manager and Director across diverse elements of a broad and expanding Casualty Account, contributing to the Group's mission to support charities and good causes.
Responsibilities include portfolio monitoring, controls & development, handling large & complex cases, developing risk appetite & underwriting guides, and overseeing technical policy documentation. The role involves collaboration with various business units and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
* Support profitable account development and delivery
* Develop and maintain policy wordings, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures, collaborating with relevant departments
* Recommend and draft updates to risk appetite, underwriting guidance, and policy wording
* Stay informed on market developments and provide strategic recommendations
* Serve as a technical referral point and train staff on technical matters
* Support UKGI business units in developing knowledge and relationships
* Contribute to pricing reviews and collaborate with Actuarial Pricing
* Ensure underwriting quality through coaching, audits, and escalation of concerns
* Lead specific projects end-to-end within deadlines
* Perform various underwriting tasks as needed
Knowledge, skills and experience
* Dip CII, aiming for ACII
* Extensive experience in Commercial insurance
* Strong property underwriting knowledge
* Deep understanding of Commercial and Retail policy wordings
* Experience in drafting policy documents is advantageous
* Experience with Real Estate / Property Owners and surplus treaties is advantageous
* Project leadership experience is advantageous
* Ability to influence senior stakeholders
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
