Design & Technology Technician - Secondary School (DT Department)\n Location: Northampton\n Start Date: September 2025\n Salary: £22,914 - £24,430\n\nAre you practical, creative, and passionate about design and engineering? Secondary schools in Northampton are seeking a reliable and skilled Design & Technology Technician to join their DT departments this September.\n\nThis is a full-time, term-time only position-ideal for someone with a background in carpentry, construction, manufacturing, or engineering who wants to support the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nSet up and maintain tools, materials, and equipment for DT lessons, ensuring everything is safe, organised, and ready for use\n\nSupport teachers and students during practical sessions, offering guidance and demonstrations on machinery and processes\n\nCarry out routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery and tools in line with H&S standards\n\nManage stock levels, order resources, and track inventory for the department\n\nAssist with displays, exhibitions, and practical assessments to showcase student work\n\nSupport in the preparation of lesson resources and administrative tasks\n\nPromote a safe, efficient, and engaging workshop environment for students aged 11-18\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\n\nPractical experience with tools and equipment used in design and manufacturing (woodwork, metalwork, CAD/CAM, etc.)\n\nA strong understanding of workshop health and safety practices\n\nGood organisational and time-management skills\n\nA team player with strong communication skills and a proactive attitude\n\nExperience working with young people or in a school/college setting is beneficial (but not essential)\n\nWillingness to complete relevant training (e.g.
