Overview
Kubernetes Platform Engineer at Marsh McLennan
Location: Marsh UK office (Bristol, Chichester, Liverpool or Manchester). This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office.
This role is part of a newly formed Global Support team that manages 52 hosting environments globally. You will provide configuration and maintenance support for Kubernetes clusters in high-availability environments for the EMEA region, working with development, operations, infrastructure and security teams to ensure smooth deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications.
Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters (on-premises or cloud-based), including upgrade and patch management
* Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of Kubernetes environments with optimized system resources
* Manage and troubleshoot deployments using Helm charts, manifests, or other CI/CD tools
* Maintain detailed documentation of Kubernetes configurations and operational processes
Qualifications
* Proficiency in managing Kubernetes clusters using tools such as kubectl, Helm, or Kustomize
* In-depth knowledge of container technologies, including Docker
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Kubernetes services (EKS, GKE, AKS)
* Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation)
Preferred/Nice-to-have
* Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
* Knowledge of centralized logging systems like Fluentd, Logstash, or Loki
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools, and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go
