Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The Support Worker will play a pivotal role in providing personalised support to residents, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Personalised Support: Provide one-on-one support to residents according to their individual care plans, including assistance with personal hygiene, grooming, medication management, and activities of daily living.
* Promoting Independence: Encourage residents to develop and maintain independence by assisting them in acquiring life skills, engaging in social activities, and accessing community resources.
* Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and companionship to residents, actively listening to their concerns, providing reassurance, and fostering a positive and supportive environment.
* Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by conducting regular checks, monitoring for any signs of distress or health issues, and promptly responding to emergencies.
* Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of support provided, including daily logs, incident reports, and any changes in residents' conditions or needs, in compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the support team, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members, to ensure coordinated and effective care for residents.
* Household Management: Assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry as needed to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within supported living or healthcare settings.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with residents and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
* Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
* Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and record keeping software.
