Seven Education is looking for an Family School Liaison Officer in Sheffield
The role:
To work with newly arrived refugee families from the Ukraine in order to ensure that their induction into Sheffield schools is successful and support their relocation. Support and advise parents of ethnic minority children on matters relating to their children’s education, social wellbeing and support families in accessing mainstream schools and other learning settings. Ensure partner service and agencies are aware of families support needs and appropriate resources are made available to maximise the smooth transition of children and young people in to school/ education settings
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting newly arrived children to settle in schools during admission and ensuring they have a secure start to their education and involving their parents;
* Offer some in-school induction support to students to help them settle into school, college and accessing the curriculum;
* Stimulating the confidence and reassuring newly arrived children and their families in unfamiliar surroundings, and encouraging participation in the life of the school;
* Ensuring parents are supported when visiting schools, set-up structures to enhance parental access and responding to the parental concerns;
* Establishing a positive relationship with newly arrived children, parents and school and assisting in fostering sustainable liaison between home and school.
* Provide support for students inside and outside of school/ education settings, to enable them to fully participate in activities;
