Role: Director of Technology Delivery
Location - Sheffeild 3 days on client site a week
1. Accountable for successful implementation and delivery of technology solutions aligned with the Bank of the Future (BoTF) product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
2. Ensure programme delivery on time, within budget, and to high quality standards to meet strategic objectives.
3. Reports functionally to UK WPB CIO and entity-wise to UK CIO.
Key Responsibilities
4. Lead and oversee delivery across multiple BoTF programme streams, collaborating with all stakeholders.
5. Own and manage a comprehensive delivery plan, including complex inter-stream dependencies.
6. Integrate SDLC with BoTF delivery plan in partnership with HSBC change functions.
7. Oversee development, testing (excluding UAT), and release management within the programme.
8. Maintain strong relationships with senior operations teams; track, prioritise, and resolve issues and risks.
9. Ensure compliance with HSBC change management methodology, including documentation, tollgates, and auditability of decisions.
10. Build and maintain positive vendor and third-party relationships; manage deliverables per contractual obligations.
11. Drive controls for resource and financial planning, scope, risk, and issue management.
12. Stay current with technology trends in Financial Services; apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies effectively.
13. Recruit and manage Agile and Waterfall delivery teams; foster collaboration between business and technology roles.
Experience and Qualifications
14. 10–15 years managing large-scale technology programmes and multiple teams.
15. Proven success delivering complex technology change in Financial Services, such as:Core banking replacementPayments platform deliveryCloud infrastructure migrationLegacy platform modernisation
16. Strong knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies; certifications such as CSM, PMP preferred.
17. Expertise in cloud solutions and enterprise-scale delivery with data and security considerations.
18. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
19. Highly collaborative; strong stakeholder negotiation and influence skills.
20. Ability to build community across diverse functions and apply risk management principles effectively.
21. Quality-focused with ability to instil best practices in teams.
22. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; capable of producing clear reports and briefings for senior stakeholders.
