About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and responsible Senior Machinist to join our team. As part of the team, you will play a key role in repairing or producing parts, using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be working in our state‑of‑the‑art facility alongside a friendly, supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring the appropriate machines are chosen for each job
* Leading and managing a team in the absence of the Line Manager
* Ensuring the machines are monitored at all times
* All types of cylinder head works including, but not limited to, Valve guide removal / fitting, Valve seat removal / fitting, Cutting valve seats, Cylinder head skimming
* Responsible for identifying any issues with the machines
* Repair minor damages as and when required
* Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
* Taking measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
* Operating and maintaining lathe and milling machines
* Identifying and using the correct material for each job
* Record keeping for all completed jobs
* Perform routine machine maintenance
* Comply with and role model health and safety principles and processes at all times
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum of 5 years experience operating manual machines
* Previous Automotive / Motorsport experience would be desirable
* Previous team leader / people management experience would be advantageous
* Able to read and manufacture parts from drawings
* Experience in using semi-automated or automated tools and machines
* Ability to use precision tools (e.g. Micrometres) to take accurate measurements
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload and manage conflicting priorities
* Positive and proactive approach
* Self-motivated and uses own initiative
* Ability to delegate and set tasks to be completed
* Energetic, proactive, calm under pressure, highly personable with a mature personality
* Strong Team‑worker with the ability to thrive in a small, closely‑knit, and dedicated team
* Excellent organisational skills
* Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
* Flexibility – being prepared to work longer hours when occasionally required
* Self‑motivated and with the ability to work unsupervised
