Learning Support Assistant – Complex Needs (Full-Time)

Salary: £95–£120 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education Manchester is currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants for a well-regarded SEND primary school in Salford. This school supports pupils aged 4–11 with a wide range of complex needs including Autism, PMLD, Speech & Language difficulties, SEMH, and physical and sensory needs.
This is a full-time, long-term role to start ASAP, ideal for someone looking for meaningful work in a structured and child-centred environment.
About the Role
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver consistent, nurturing support for pupils with Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Most support will be 1:1 or small group-based, helping pupils access the curriculum, regulate emotions, develop communication, and build confidence.
The school offers excellent routines, strong pastoral support, and training for staff working with children with complex profiles.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with complex needs
* Assist with personal care, sensory regulation, and movement where required
* Support pupils with communication strategies (Makaton, PECs, AAC)
* Promote a calm, inclusive and positive classroom environment
* Work with EHCP targets and collaborate with SENCOs, therapists and families
* Model emotional regulation and consistent behaviour routines
We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting children with Autism, SEMH, PMLD or communication needs
* A calm, empathetic and structured approach
* Experience delivering personal care (or willingness to do so with training)
* Familiarity with or willingness to learn communication strategies
* A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education
* DBS on the Update Service and two recent, relevant references
