About this role:
Wells Fargo is looking for a Macro Strategist with a focus on European markets. The Macro Strategy team develops content and views on global macro (interest rate/FX) markets. We collaborate with macro sales and trading in deepening client relationships and addressing their needs, while also supporting internal trading desks with idea generation.
In this role, you will:
* Develop differentiated thematic and country-specific content for clients and internal stakeholders.
* Generate actionable and market-relevant rates/FX trade ideas.
* Connect the dots on global macro trends, geopolitical events, and market themes to financial markets.
* Effectively communicate Macro Strategy content to a variety of client segments, including institutional investors and corporates.
* Collaborate with sales and trading desks to deepen client engagement.
* Consistent business travel to meet with Wells Fargo's clients, particularly within the EMEA region
Required Qualifications:
* Experience as a Macro Strategist, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
* Master's degree or higher in Economics/Finance or a quantitative field
* Past coverage of FX/fixed income markets
* Proficiency in programming (Python or R)
* Expertise working with large financial and economic datasets via Bloomberg and/or Macrobond
* Excellent oral/written communication skills
* Strong problem-solving abilities are a must
* Previous interactions with large institutional and corporate clients
* Experience collaborating with sales/trading desks
Job Expectations:
This position is deemed to be a Certified Person function under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime. You must at all times remain fit and proper to perform your role, and this will be assessed on at least an annual basis
