We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota. Full training / PPE / use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our employees have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes' high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position: Drainage Project Manager (Special Projects Division; SPD)
Location: Customer Solution Centre, Slough Head Office (Slough, Berkshire)
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours, plus on call rota - start times to be discussed
Salary: £36,000 - £40,500 per annum, depending upon experience (salary to be discussed at interview)

About The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager for Special Projects, the Special Projects Project Manager organises, leads, and helps execute company projects that may fall outside the scope of regular duties. The specific responsibilities and purpose of projects vary, depending on the industry and type of organisation. As an SPD Project Manager, you ensure the scope of the project fits the budget and that staff complete each phase of the project within the scheduled timeline. Many special projects managers work their way up from lower-level positions once they have several years of experience in the industry. In order to complete your duties, you will be required to travel to various sites across our network, stretching from Luton to Abbey Wood and across from Swindon into Essex so a full manual UK driver's licence is a must
Manages program specific special projects
Coordinates and/or supervises the activities of personnel involved in the development and implementation of special projects
Confers with the department head or assigned designee to determine basic departmental policies and operating procedures and coordinates implementation
Assesses departmental priorities and objectives and makes action recommendations to the department head or assigned designee
Develops the operating budget for program specific special projects
Assists in the formulation of the annual departmental budget
Performs departmental and program specific analysis
Conducts complex studies and prepares reports
Meets with community groups and members of the public
Represents the department on committees and task force as assigned
Represents the department at public hearings and makes public presentations
Analyse states and/or federal law and regulations to ensure departmental program compliance
Utilises a personal computer and various software
Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them
Any other reasonable ad hoc duties requested by the Operations or Regional Manager, the Head of Service Delivery or any other member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

About You
You must have experience in the drainage industry or wider utilities industry. The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Previous management and leadership experience is crucial, as is a full UK drivers licence. Having prior knowledge of the utilities sector, especially drainage and waste water, will be an advantage. Being able to prioritise and multitask whilst building working relationships is essential.
