Overview

Are you passionate about exceptional healthcare and would you like to make a difference in your local community? The new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Ely presents an exciting opportunity for the role of Healthcare Support Workers.

The aim of the new CDC is to make it easier for people to access diagnostic services such as CT, X-Ray, MRI, Ultrasound, Echo and Respiratory outside of acute hospital facilities. This approach will help alleviate the pressure on hospitals, offer quicker access to tests, and enhance convenience for patients.

We encourage professional development opportunities to grow within the scope of practice and upskill yourself with support from the wider team.

This is a full time position with 37.5 flexible working hours per week to support a service that will eventually run 7 days a week with extended hours from 7am to 8pm. You will be required to attend training at Addenbrooke5;s Hospital in Cambridge as part of your role.

Role and duties

As Healthcare Support Worker, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting with patient care and performing dedicated specialised tasks including venepuncture and intravenous cannulation after appropriate training. You will also provide support with administrative tasks and act as a chaperone when required. You will serve as a champion for patient safety and act as an ambassador for NHS values ensuring excellent healthcare and customer service. The role is physically challenging where you would be expected to bend and to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Recruitment process

The process for functional skills has now changed and is conducted as a second interview on TRAC following any applicant that is successful at their initial interview.
