Job overview

By collaborating closely with the registered nurse and an identified member of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will deliver essential routine care and assistance to enhance the well-being of those in their care.

In addition to providing direct support, the post holder will actively promote therapeutic activities on the ward. This initiative will be carried out under the guidance of the nursing team and in partnership with the medical team, occupational therapist, psychology team, recovery workers and patient flow team, ensuring that each individual receives tailored interventions that contribute to their recovery journey.

Through this collaborative approach, the post holder will help create a nurturing atmosphere that encourages personal growth and healing.

Please note - This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Main duties of the job

Role Summary

The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to the team, working under the guidance of Registered Nurses and other health professionals. You will provide routine care and support to people with mental health issues. You will promote and engage patients in therapeutic activity. You will promote the dignity and independence of our patients. You will ensure the safety of our patients completing safe and supportive observations.

6. Have a basic understanding of mental health issues
7. Have an awareness of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Human Rights Act
8. Knowledge of issues around confidentiality

Skills and Abilities

9. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
10. Ability to meet the day to day needs of service users, including providing practical support with daily living activities and personal care
11. Respect the wishes and aspirations of service users to lead as ordinary lives as possible

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
