Feel valued and supported when you join our team as a Dietitian, working 37.5 hours at Brighton and Hove Clinic, a CAHMS Tier 4 Eating Disorder Service. You will provide support for young people with eating disorders, including those with co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, or self-harm.
With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will manage a complex caseload, creating individual rapports with the young people on the unit, understanding their health concerns, goals, dietary restrictions, and preferences to develop personalized nutrition plans.
You will receive support from the Dietitian Assistant and collaborate with service users, their families, and the wider team to promote physical and nutritional recovery.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of assessment, formulation, and treatment, acting as a key link between the nursing team, catering department, and leading on dining room management and nutrition support strategies.
Brighton and Hove Clinic is collaborating with Kings College London and The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute (THIS) at the University of Cambridge on a dietetic-led project to improve knowledge around NG feeding under restraint and dining room support. You will engage with research activities to support project completion and implementation of findings.
As a Dietitian, you will be:
1. Implementing appropriate nutrition care plans, considering risks, recovery stage, co-occurring conditions, and cultural norms.
2. Conducting weekly progress reviews and providing feedback to the multidisciplinary team during ward rounds.
3. Carrying out one-to-one nutrition counseling sessions to explore eating behaviors, beliefs, attitudes, and barriers to change.
4. Providing mealtime support, acting as a key link between the nursing team and catering, and managing nutrition support strategies.
5. Delivering the Nourish to Flourish psychoeducation group to help young people understand their eating disorders and challenge beliefs about food and bodies.
6. Supporting families through education about the relationship between food and health and strategies to support eating at home.
7. Attending professional meetings with external agencies.
8. Conducting pre-admission screenings for new referrals and planning future interventions.
9. Liaising with the dietetic assistant and catering department to review menus, allergen lists, portion sizes, and special diets.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. HCPC registration.
2. Post-qualifying experience working with people with eating disorders, ideally in an inpatient setting.
3. Knowledge of eating disorders in children and young people and their impact on clients and families.
4. Experience in eating disorders is desirable but not essential; we welcome applications from professionals interested in postgraduate training in this area.
