We help our clients make good decisions based on insightful analysis, industry expertise, and game-changing technology.We have an exciting opportunity to join our pensions actuarial team to help support our continued growth in the DB pensions market. What team will I be joining?Our pensions actuarial department in London consists of over 150 people, from analysts to Partners.The team advises trustees and sponsors on a wide range of DB pensions issues from core work on actuarial valuations and member options advice, to strategic advice and project work.Everyone in the department has their own unique client mix, meaning that everyone works with lots of different people to advise a range of different clients.This means that the client work is varied and interesting, and there are always new opportunities to learn from others in the team.Our clients range from small schemes with only a handful of members, to large schemes of over Youworking on a variety of schemes, each with their own priorities. What's the role and what will you be doing?Your day-to-day role will involve carrying out or checking actuarial calculations with the rest of the teams on your clients along with drafting the associated advice. At Associate Consultant level, you will take ownership of delegating tasks to analysts and ensuring that work is ready for review by the senior members of the team, who will support you with this. Everyone is encouraged to attend client meetings to help develop your consulting skills and your list will enable you to have the opportunity to not only attend, but also present at these meetings alongside senior team members. You will also have the opportunity to attend industry networking events, with LCP playing a key role in organising events. Within our department there are opportunities to join our specialist teams, for example covering Pensions Risk Transfer, longevity, GMP and Collective Defined Contribution schemes.Specifically you will be involved in;Conducting actuarial valuations for clients for a variety of purposes including funding, solvency, Section 179 and buy-in feasibility studiesCalculating and checking individual member calculations such as transfer valuesProducing member option factors, such as early and late retirement factors or commutation factors for administratorsCalculating disclosures for accounting purposes under IAS19 and\/or US GAAPCarrying out and checking calculations for data and benefit rectification projects, including GMP equalisationWhat skills and experience are we looking for?You'll be a part-qualified FIA with at least two years' experience, typically working in the UK pensions actuarial consulting environmentAn awareness of current issues and key hot topics in the UK pensions industryAbility to draft clear communications and presentationsGood communication skills and the ability to explain the approach taken and results to more senior team membersAbility to prioritise workloads with conflicting importance and flexibility to adapt to different client needsWhatfor you?Take a look at our Glassdoor and Career storiespages to see why our people love being here! well as joining a multi-award winning, fun, collaborative, people first organisation where your personal and professional skills will be developed to make you the best you can be, we offer an attractive benefits package designed to promote your overall wellbeing so that you are able to perform to your full potential both in and out of work.
