Overview We are looking for an experienced Service Designer to join a major public-sector transformation programme. Youll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to design and improve end-to-end services that meet user needs, align with government standards, and deliver measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end service design across complex digital and non-digital journeys.
Work closely with Product, UCD, Policy, BA, and Technical teams to map current and future state services.
Create service blueprints, user journey maps, process flows, and supporting artefacts.
Identify pain points, gaps, and opportunities for service improvement.
Champion user-centred design and ensure services meet GDS standards and accessibility requirements.
Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
Support user research activities and translate insights into actionable service design.
Contribute to strategic decision-making by providing evidence-based recommendations.
Ensure solutions align with organisational goals, technical constraints, and policy requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience Strong background in Service Design within UK Public Sector environments.
Proven experience delivering in multidisciplinary agile teams.
Hands-on experience producing service blueprints, journey maps, systems maps, and conceptual models.
Excellent knowledge of GDS frameworks, service standards, and accessibility principles (WCAG).
Ability to simplify complex problems and communicate them clearly.
Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
Experience supporting discoveries, alphas, and betas.
Nice-to-Have Prior experience working on Home Office or other central government programmes.
Exposure to policy design or operational service transformation.
Familiarity with prototyping tools (Figma, Miro, etc.).
Other Information Immediate interview and onboarding.
Must hold active SC clearance (unfortunately sponsorship cannot be provided).
