Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working with a forensic patient population in high security. The post is based within a well-established Occupational Therapy service with patients with primary diagnoses of severe mental illness or personality disorder. The post offers development opportunities from band 5 with senior staff support and advice, and the VdT Model of Creative Ability is a key model of practice in the team. The hospital is a modern high-security forensic hospital focusing on innovative care and multi-professional working to reduce risk and offending behaviours. The post is suitable for a resourceful, motivated Occupational Therapist with mental health experience and a readiness to take on new challenges and development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
* Take responsibility for one ward and work with Occupational Therapy Assistants in all sessions with patients.
* Work with the Occupational Therapy service to offer groups and individual treatment goals.
* Collaborate as a highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Engage with hospital services that meet changing patient needs, including vocational work areas, a health and fitness team, and a recovery college, alongside other Allied Health Professionals.
