Salary:
16yrs – 17yrs: £7.56ph - 40 hours per week including time at college.
Over 18yrs: £10.50ph – 42.5 hours per week including time at college.
Over 21yrs: £11.44ph - 42.5 hours per week including time at college.
Tools, Chromebook, and uniform will be provided.

The NVQ L2 Carpenter / Joiner apprenticeship programme will take up to 27 months to complete.

What does a life as a Carpenter & Joiner look like:
As a Carpenter & Joiner with Mears you will usually work within domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components from the initial erection, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities in both new and old buildings. A Carpenter & Joiner would generally liaise with other trades such as bricklayers, plasterers and plumbers, supervisors, site management and contractors.
The apprenticeship course will cover a variety of tasks including: -
1. Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
2. Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
3. Carry out second fixing operations
4. Carry out carpentry maintenance
5. Set up and operate a circular saw and use of various hand tools
What do you need to be a successful applicant:
6. GCSEs in English and maths grade 4 or above
7. You will live in Rotherham or the surrounding area within a commutable distance of our branch, to meet up with your Mentor each day
8. The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks
9. Strong communication skills
10. Preferably you will live in an NR postcode so you can be picked up by your mentor in the morning.
11. Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships

Application Process:
To be considered for a Mears apprenticeship all applicants must submit their CV and a Cover Letter detailing why you are interested in Mears Group and why you would like to be an apprentice.
The closing date for applications is 31/03/2024, following this date we will contact you to confirm if you have been selected for the next round, which would either be an invitation to an assessment centre or individual interviews.
Please note that you will be required to complete a basic Math & English test during the selection process, which are like the assessments you will need to take in order to enrol with the college.
