Structural Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to lead and deliver a range of building structures projects within a consultancy environment. This role combines hands‑on design responsibility with full project management ownership, client engagement, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the structural design of projects across a range of building types and materials
· Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and structural models
· Check designs and drawings for accuracy, compliance, and quality, recommending improvements where required
· Manage and coordinate project resources in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
· Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other consultants
· Attend and contribute to project and design team meetings
· Deliver projects in line with agreed timescales, budgets, and scope
· Identify project risks and challenges, implementing mitigation measures and escalating issues where necessary
· Prepare monthly project workload updates, fee forecasts, and financial reports
· Monitor and control project costs and support preparation of project invoicing
· Conduct site inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders
· Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, health & safety requirements, and statutory regulations
· Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates, and technicians
· Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
· Maintain accurate project documentation in line with management systems
Requirements
· Chartered Structural Engineer
· BEng in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
· Minimum 5 years’ post‑graduate experience in a similar consultancy environment
· Proven experience designing with all common building materials
· Strong knowledge of current design codes and regulations
· Experience carrying out structural assessments of existing buildings
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD
· Full driving licence or suitable access to transport to meet role requirements
