 
        
        Position Overview
Band 7 Labour Ward Co‑ordinator role in the Maternity Department at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, Kent, covering secondment leave. This role primarily works on the Labour Ward and Triage, providing clinical leadership and coordination of the busy level 3 unit.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide clinical leadership to the Labour Ward team and set an example of excellent women‑centred, evidence‑based, quality care.
 * Coordinate the unit’s services, supporting the rest of the team when required and ensuring a coherent approach for women and their families.
 * Collaborate closely with the consultant midwife, obstetricians and the matron to lead the service into the future.
 * Maintain clinical and professional competence and credibility, supporting all midwifery staff within their clinical area.
 * Utilise clinical sessions to role‑model standards of care and expected behaviour, measuring agreed standards of midwifery practice.
 * Empower midwifery staff to develop and utilise clinical leadership skills and work autonomously and accountably.
 * Contribute to the implementation of the Trust Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery, using the “We Care” values.
 * Plan, implement and evaluate the needs of all women to maintain a high standard of midwifery care that is safe, effective and high‑quality.
 * Communicate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver optimum care for women.
 * Coordinate with the Midwifery‑Led Unit and Postnatal ward co‑ordinators to ensure continuity of care for women and families.
 * Support Maternity Triage and the implementation of BSOTS.
