Position Summary


Reports to: Senior Reliability Manager


Direct reports: None


Working Hours: Continental shift pattern (3/2) working hour shifts. This will rotate between days (05:45-18:00) and nights (17:45-6:00) and is an average of hours per week.

Main Accountability


As a technician you will be a technical expert, utilising you specialist engineering knowledge within your field. To be responsible for your respective area, as well as other areas whenever manning and/or skills are required for you to do so. You will ensure the smooth running and maintenance of all manufacturing assets, whilst delivering optimum plant reliability through preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Providing support to the autonomous maintenance team to help grow and develop our capability.


Responsibilities


The Technician responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Demonstrate completion of all Quality checks pre and post maintenance activities, particular focus when carrying out all intrusive maintenance tasks. 
2. Comply to all regulatory and mandatory standards and ensuring conformance to local PepsiCo standards. 
3. Carry out maintenance activities in accordance with detailed safety precautions and procedures, influencing the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle for improvement of all procedures. 
4. Provide training, coaching and mentorship to autonomous maintenance team members on equipment knowledge, basic Clean-Inspect-Lubricate activities and fault diagnostics.
5. Ownership of their personal skills needs assessment & develop an individual development plan with prioritisation versus requirements. Ensuring that critical skills are maintained. 
6. Demonstrate the importance of a good level of 5S across plant and within Maintenance areas such as the workshop, inventory and technical library areas.
7. Develop lubrication maps, routes, execution, training autonomous maintenance team members, whilst supporting how we can simplify and rationalise our lubricants.
8. Complete running/stopped maintenance activities on time and in full, having a proactive mindset towards maintenance execution - maximising wrench time. Proactively feeding back to the maintenance planners and maintenance leadership teams to influence plans/frequencies/allocated time/parts.
9. To facilitate and coach root cause analysis sessions, being a proactive team member and providing technical expertise. providing input and engagement, supporting root cause and identification of potential Clean-Inspect-Lubricate, centre lining and planned maintenance improvements.
10. Ensuring compliance to the work order management and inventory standards and procedures. Accurate data quality including work order type, maintenance activity type, equipment selection and malfunction data. 
11. Adherence to maintenance instructions when performing maintenance activity during scheduled intervention. Ensuring that there is a feedback loop to change and amend maintenance instructions as part of PDCA, continuous improvement or outputs from root cause analysis. Ability to develop maintenance instructions with version control and differentiating maintenance activity types. 
12. Area ownership and technical responsibility, being present on your assigned area, being part of the line team.
13. Always being the lead technical representative, providing technical support to all autonomous maintenance team members.
14. Being responsible for all planned maintenance tasks assigned within their area/line.
15. Maximising wrench time and ensuring productivity of our resource by prioritisation of workload. Can identify opportunity maintenance and apply an if-down-do mindset.

Qualifications

16. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent time served Engineering apprenticeship with proven hands on experience
17. Recognised Electrical / Mechanical academic qualification
18. Advanced Electro-Mechanical aptitude
19. Electrical Testing & Inspecting - City & Guilds 2391 holder would be an advantage
20. IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification is desirable
21. Understanding of SCADA control systems, computer systems, networking
22. Working knowledge of PLC systems - Allen Bradley and/or Siemens an advantage
23. Working knowledge of CMMS and SCADA systems and associated applications
24. Good manufacturing practices
