About the Role of Workshop Supervisor
As the Workshop Supervisor (Inboard Engine Overhaul), you will lead the hands-on rebuild, overhaul and servicing of inboard engines and associated products. You’ll ensure production targets are met, quality standards maintained, and the workshop operates with maximum efficiency, safety and professionalism.
This is a vital role within their Production Division, perfect for a technically strong, proactive leader who enjoys a mix of practical engineering and team coordination.
What You’ll Be Doing as Workshop Supervisor
* Supervising inboard engine overhaul staff and apprentices, providing ongoing training and guidance.
* Overhauling and repairing engines and MoD/customer products to required technical specifications.
* Organising daily workflow for yourself and the team to meet production deadlines.
* Ensuring all finished goods are inspected, packed, labelled and presented correctly.
* Maintaining a clean, safe, well-organised workshop environment.
* Raising accurate quotations for engine rebuilds and services.
* Assisting colleagues with technical queries and troubleshooting.
* Ensuring all work is clocked and recorded accurately within time capture systems.
* Overseeing tool and equipment calibration, care and security.
* Supporting product testing, and assisting with exhibitions or off-site demonstrations as required.
What they’re Looking For in the Workshop Supervisor
* A recognised engineering or marine engineering apprenticeship or diploma.
* City & Guilds in Vehicle Mechanics/Engineering (welding/fabrication desirable).
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a busy workshop or production environment.
* Strong background in engine rebuilds or new builds.
* Practical knowledge of 4-stroke petrol and diesel engines.
* Experience leading a workshop team and handling day-to-day operational challenges.
* Good understanding of Health & Safety at Work.
* Computer literacy and strong communication skills.
* Forklift licence desirable (or willingness to obtain).
